So, on Saturday we had a nice
day in Canada. We went to an SCA event inthe Shire of Lyndhaven, which is New
Brunswick, Canada. We enjoyed somearchery, axe throwing, getting videos of
armored fighters on the field, some strange new foods, and of course, the
opportunity to play inmedieval clothing.

Crossingover to Canada went just fine. We
went over at about 11:00 am. The officer for Canada asked us a few standard
questions. We answered them.We let him know that, yes, we had a fair amount of
camping gear here, but we hadn't decided yet if we would want to spend the night.
He gaveus a little survey for our visit to Canada. Off we
went.
Cominghome to the US sucked. We had decided not to camp
out after all. Wecame back to the border somewhere around 7:00 pm after an
enjoyableday. The officer for the US asked us a bunch of questions. We
answeredthem all. I'm not sure what it was he didn't like. Perhaps he did
notlike the look of medieval gear. Perhaps he is suspicious of all campinggear.
But we had to wait in a little lobby while they rooted throughevery last bit of
my car. (I know 'cause I saw a bag of old cassettetapes that've been buried
under the passenger seat for over a yearsitting out, and old fast food bags from
last year dug out ofsomewhere.) And of course, they re-packed it badly. Not
healthy for myobsessive side. (Must organize!!
ack!..)
Anyway, in the lobby ofthe Customs Office there was a
Statue of Liberty, perhaps 6 feet tall.It had a very large chain from its foot
to the podium it stood on.First of all, I can't even imagine how anyone would
steal that statue, regardless of the chain. Who's going to go into a Customs
Office to getit? The place doesn't close, right? There are always officers
there, right? The statue is huge and nearly impossible to carry, if it is
themetal it appears to be, right? So why the
chain?
There was just something terribly, visually
disturbing about a large chain on the Statue of Liberty. Just,
disturbing.
Way to go with the symbolism on that one,
gov.
Iwould have liked to have a picture, but after
I took a few in thelobby, an officer came out who said I couldn't have any, and
pleasecome over and delete them in front of him. I thought it was a publiclobby,
but I guess not (yet another reason to wonder about that statuegetting
anywhere..). So I did. He even made me delete a picture of theoutside of the
Customs building from down the road (I'd been takingphotos of Canadian street
signs that were unusual or didn't make senseto me.) Although why I needed to
delete a photo of the outside of abuilding that anyone can
drive right up to and see is beyond me.
*sigh* Little
reminders of our country sucking. Sometimes I wonder if Canada is nice to live
in, all year round.
Ha ha ha! Yes, My Humps by the Black Eyed
Peas was the worst, most annoying, piece of shit, dumbass excuse for a
song that just wouldn't stop playing on the radio. What the hell was
up with that fad? Did anyone listen to that
song? Completely inane, absolutely stupid. Definitely one
for the drunken, dim-wit partyer-whores who love nothing better than the worst
hip-hop/rap and wannabe-hip-hop that's ever been spewed out. Ha
ha!
And this video by Alanis Morissette performing a new [improved]
version of My Humps demonstrates perfectly how awful and
stupid that song was. Love it! Woo! More love for
Alanis Morissette!

If you like music like the album Sacred Earth Drums by David & Steve
Gordon, you will probably like this nifty album called Meanwhile, by Trance
Mission. Yay!
I was listening to WHSN, the Husson
College station, on the way to work this morning, and they were saying something
about a big event they're doing. Then I heard them say that River
Bottom Funk would be playing!! Whoa!!!
But the kid doing
the announcement didn't repeat anything about the show after naming bands, so I
don't know what the event is. I can't find anything on their website
either. Ack! What's going on?
Everybody should
totally check out River Bottom Funk! They are so awesome!
They play at Carolina's at 9:00 pm almost every Thursday night. Go go
go!!!
